All the The Summer I Turned Pretty Paris locations (S3, Eps 10 and 11)

I have been well and truly taken in by the mass hysteria surrounding Amazon Prime’s The Summer I Turned Pretty series and am fully obsessed with Belly and Conrad’s love story.

If you’ve been watching the series, then you’ll know that Belly does not end up marrying Jeremiah in season 3 and instead runs away to Paris. Although there is no space for her on the course she was hoping to join, she chooses to stay in Paris.

I couldn’t have been more excited about these Paris scenes because before there was Belly in Paris or Emily in Paris, there was Laura in Paris (that’s me!).

So, you best believe I was watching all The Summer I Turned Pretty scenes in Paris like a hawk to see if I could recognise the locations.

I was quickly rewarded as one of the first scenes in Season 3, Episode 10 features Belly ordering a pain au chocolat at my very favourite bakery in Paris – Du Pain et Des Idées!

Here’s my guide to all the Paris locations in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episodes 10 and 11 (i.e. the grand finale!).

We don’t like to talk about Episode 9, which we can only assume was an advert for Apple Airtags.

FYI a small number of images featured are not the exact location in The Summer I Turned Pretty but somewhere that looks very similar in Paris.

The Summer I Turned Pretty, Season 3, Episode 10, Locations in Paris

Canal Saint-Martin

Season 3, Episode 10 begins with a voice-over as Belly tells her mum, Laurel, that she’s planning to stay in Paris over the holidays instead of coming back to the States.

There are several shots at Canal Saint-Martin in these opening scenes, including the pastel green bridges and Artazart Bookshop and Gallery.

Canal Saint-Martin appears a few times in the episode as Belly is later seen walking across one of these green bridges after visiting a local bakery (more on that below!).

This is a trendy neighbourhood in Paris where you’ll find young people sitting along the side of the water enjoying a couple of beers after work or at the weekend.

It’s one of my favourite areas of Paris with great restaurants and shops to explore.

Primeurs de Lancry

After we are introduced to Belly’s living quarters (what appears to be an incredibly chaotic flat with a few characters), Belly heads out and buys an apple at Primeurs de Lancry on Rue de Lancry in the 10th arrondissement. She returns at a later date to buy some plums here, too.

Du Pain et des Idées

Belly continues her shopping at Du Pain et des Idées, my absolute favourite bakery in Paris.

She orders a pain au chocolat, but I’d definitely recommend going for one of their pistachio escargots (‘snails’). These round pastries are divine, and I make sure to eat several every time I visit Paris.

Belly also takes her best friend Taylor to this bakery when she visits Paris for New Year’s Eve. The pair order croissants and hot chocolate with whipped cream from the bakery window – delicious!

I couldn’t believe that one of my very favourite Paris spots made it into the series, but I was very happy to see it given the love it deserves!

Écoles Cinéma Club

Belly works two jobs to sustain herself in Paris (which is honestly one of the most realistic parts of her time in Paris). One of those jobs is at Ecoles Cinema Club in the 5th arrondissement.

This is an old school cinema (though newly renovated), located in the Latin Quarter, a part of the city historically known for being a hub of cultural and intellectual life.

This cinema plays old and indie French, Italian and American films (Funny Face, Saturday Night Fever, Aftersun, etc) and hosts several film clubs.

La Coulée Verte René-Dumont

Later in the episode, as Conrad narrates the first letter he wrote to Belly, we see her running happily with her new friends down la Coulée Verte René-Dumont (the Paris Highline), and Benito takes some photos of Belly whilst her friends look on, sharing knowing glances.

This stretch of green in the 12th arrondissement is built upon the disused Vincennes railway line and was opened in 1993.

The promenade begins just east of the Opéra Bastille and is roughly a 5km path eastward that ends at a spiral staircase leading to the boulevard Périphérique beltway.

This is one of my favourite places to walk in Paris and a little off the beaten track compared to most Paris destinations.

Avenue Ledru Rollin

Belly and her friends are then seen crossing the road on Avenue Ledru Rollin at night time. You can see the restaurant Yooki Sushi in the background.

We briefly see another one of my favourite establishments in Paris during a montage of Paris at Christmas. That includes the exterior of the Used Book Cafe, part of the concept store Merci.

There’s always an old red Fiat 500 parked outside the cafe, but every year at Christmas, the car is decorated in a different way.

Les Marchés de Noël

There are also a few shots of a Christmas market in Paris. Whilst it’s not clear what Christmas market this is supposed to be (I presume it’s just a set!), one of the most famous Christmas markets in Paris is la Magie de Noël at the Tuileries Garden.

This is the largest Christmas market in Paris featuring lots of food stalls, games, fairground rides and shops.

Place Vendôme

We also see some shots of Place Vendôme, a square famous for its luxury jewellery stores, the Ritz Paris, and the commemorative column at the centre.

The original column at the centre of the square was put up by Napoleon I to commemorate the Battle of Austerlitz, but was subsequently torn down in the late 1800s.

However, it was later re-erected and that’s the column that you can see today.

Coquelicot Bistrot

The Paris location seen most frequently in episode 10 is Coquelicot Bistrot on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, where Belly works.

On Christmas Eve, Belly is left alone to lock up the restaurant when Benito arrives and challenges her to a game of darts. He wins, but she agrees to go with him on his motorbike to see Paris at night.

You see the lovely red awning outside covered in snow (though I think in real life the awning is now white!), and it looks like a classic Parisian bistrot.

Places des Vosges

When Benito tells Belly to hop on his bike, he says he’ll drive them to Place des Vosges. We never actually see them visit the square, but it is beautiful, and where author Victor Hugo used to live! You can visit his house museum today.

Galeries Lafayette

In some other Christmas shots of Paris, we see the exterior of the Galeries Lafayette in the snow. This is a historic department store in Paris, and they have a different giant Christmas tree inside every year.

Eiffel Tower

The iconic Eiffel Tower surprisingly only makes a brief appearance in the episode in a shot of the sun setting over Paris.

Passage Jouffroy

We also see some shoppers in a very festive Passage Jouffroy, one of the many covered passages of Paris.

The Sacre-Coeur in the distance, as was seen in The Summer I Turned Pretty Paris scenes from Belly's new flat in Paris.

Sacré-Cœur

A few more shots around the Sacré-Cœur are also seen at the end of the episode, including the restaurant Au Soleil de la Butte.

At the end of the episode, we see Belly writing back to Conrad (finally!) with the iconic Sacré-Cœur in the background. I’m not sure where this flat is, but this scene is a definite nod to Sabina starring Audrey Hepburn!

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episode 11 Locations in Paris

Jenny Han, the woman that you are. The way that this episode had me (and thousands and thousands of other fangirls) in a chokehold needs to be studied.

This is the grand finale that we’ve been waiting all summer for, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The yearning! The tension!

The last episode ended with Conrad spontaneously booking a flight to Paris to surprise Belly. When he arrives, Belly seems a bit unsure of what to do, but she ends up spending the day taking Conrad around a number of iconic spots in Paris.

23 Rue de Chevalier de la Barre

Belly’s not at home when Conrad arrives at her apartment, so he patiently sits and waits for her on the street outside.

He sits outside a red gate a little way down from her flat when Benito and Belly ride up on his scooter, and he watches as them say goodbye.

But are they still dating?

That was the question on everyone’s minds!

Her flat is in Montmartre, on the street that runs alongside the Sacre-Coeur, and is at 23 Rue de Chevalier de la Barre.

Big Bus Tour Paris

They start with a Big Bus tour of Paris. I feel like a lot of people look down on these buses as being too ‘touristy’, but if you are visiting a city for the first time (i.e. a tourist), then this is a great way to see lots of key sights in an easy way.

We see the Champs-Élysées, Notre Dame, Académie des Beaux-Arts, Mairie de Paris, Arc de Triomphe, Les Invalides.

Palace of Versailles

Despite Belly having plans at 8pm that evening, the pair are magically then at the Palace of Versailles, which is around an hour outside of Paris.

Belly and Conrad sneak glances at each other in the opulent Gallery of Battles, where there are 33 large paintings representing “all the glories of France”.

They’re then outside looking at the magnificent garden with its many fountains and trees stretching far into the distance. Conrad says he’s going to jump into the fountain, but then chickens out, saying ‘nah, it’s too cold’.

They are then seen wandering inside the Hall of Mirrors, undoubtedly the most famous room in the Palace.

It’s a baroque-style gallery which is 73m long and has 17 tall windows looking out onto the gardens.

Opposite the windows are over 300 mirrors (!) and 43 chandeliers (!), which are what make the room look so magical.

Here, Conrad asks to see Paris the way Belly does, and she takes him to the rooftop of her colleague’s block of flats, with views of the Sacre-Coeur in the distance. Belly explains to Conrad how everything beautifully came together for her in Paris.

Later that eve, they head to Belly’s birthday party in an intimate Parisian restaurant.

*Île de la Cité (the other natural island in the Seine, alongside Île Saint-Louis)*

Place Louis-Aragon

After the party, Belly and Conrad walk along the Seine at night. They’re at the tip of Place Louis-Aragon on Île Saint-Louis, one of two natural islands in the Seine. You can see the Pont-Louis Phillipe lit up behind them as they walk towards the camera.

This is one of the best scenes in the episode as Conrad asks Belly to dance and the pair finally kiss! I’m surprised fireworks didn’t go off in the background, to be honest.

I loved this scene (and the scene that followed hehe).

This very same location is used in Interview with the Vampire (1994) too!

Gare Du Nord

After spending the night together, Conrad and Belly have a difficult conversation where Belly confesses she’s not sure if she only loves Conrad because Susannah wanted her to.

Girl, what!

Connie looks absolutely crushed and is further crushed when Belly suggests that he takes the next train to Brussels. At 5am.

Again, girl, what!

After he leaves, she (quickly) realises her mistake and runs after him. She gets a taxi to Gare Du Nord (apparently the busiest station in Europe!) and is desperately searching for Conrad.

She hops aboard a train to Amsterdam (via Brussels) and thankfully finds him onboard.

So, we finally got the ending we were all hoping for!

But the story isn’t over – Amazon Prime have already announced that we’ll be getting a The Summer I Turned Pretty movie. Eek!

The scream I scrumpt when I saw the news.

So hopefully there’ll be more of Belly and Conrad on our screens soon.
