Make It Or Break It Season 3 Is Here

I feel like it’s been an age since season 2 of Make it or Break it ended, but it has finally returned! This season is set to be the most exciting yet as the girls are in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics and they’re all competing to be part of the team. Only five girls will be selected to compete – but which five will it be? The competition is stronger than ever and the return of Jordan Randall, Kaylie’s ex-bestfriend and Junior Champion, everyone’s feeling nervous. Things may not be what they first appear. Although athletes are known for their valour, morality and dignity expect there to be lots of underhand dealings and bitchy back stabbings.

Season 2 ended with a bang as the Rock girls beat all odds taking the title of World Champions right from underneath the noses of their tough Chinese competitors. In the very last episode we saw the girl’s relationships with their respective boys and with each other flourish. Kaylie and Austin finally got their act together, and Max admitted to Payson that he might be in love with her. Near the end of season 2 we began to see a bit more of Kelly Parker, World Champion gymnast, who makes more frequent appearances in season 3 and she is also selected to take part in the Olympic trials.

So far, we are only six episodes into this new series, but so much has happened already. This season is most certainly moving at a faster pace than the previous two seasons and break ups, make ups, new friends, new foes, and most importantly a new setting. The girls now train in the Olympic training centre and they are forced to say goodbye to both Sasha and the Rock. Despite these new changes the script writers have still managed to hold on to the best elements of Make it or Break it. Each and every one of the girls goes through some sort of personal issue in the first few episodes, many of which are set to last throughout the series. The girls find it hard to come to terms with the fact that they have to leave the Rock behind and focus on the Olympic team instead. They have to make friends with all the new girls in order to survive, but it’s difficult to know which ones to trust and the scheming and plotting that goes on behind the scenes is sure to blow up spectacularly in the future.

The fact that we are in fact eagerly anticipating the upcoming Olympic Games and so are the girls gives a greater sense of connection to this series. I’ve always found Make it or Break it fascinating because this is really what the daily lives of gymnasts are like. This time, there’s no more Mr Nice Guy as the coach is used to training boys and applies the same gruelling techniques when coaching the girls. In the past two seasons the role of the coach has been pivotal in the girl’s lives, but in this season, the focus is a lot more on the girls as individuals and there is less of a ‘family’ feel.

Personally, I think this is going to be the best season yet with new characters put into the mix to spice things up. The gymnastic routines are bigger and better than ever before and it looks like it’s going to be an exciting race to the Olympics!
