A couple of weeks ago, I attended my final Oxford University ball, my own college, Christ Church’s, Commemoration Ball. Most colleges host balls every 1-3 years and it has been three years since the last Christ Church Ball. I was fortunate to be able to attend in both my first and final year, but my favourite and most beautiful ball gown is the one I wore both in first year and at New College Ball last year. Girl code seems to decree that you cannot be seen in the same outfit twice so off I went on the hunt for a suitable white tie dress for the last hurrah.

After ordering around 10 different dress and two-piece combos online, I finally whittled down my choices until I had just one. This beautiful off the shoulder, lace number by Coast. The dress code for this ball was white tie so I wanted something very elegant and formal but also a little different to the standard ball gowns that most people wear.
This outfit is actually a two-piece set and the top and skirt are separate. The most annoying thing about ball gowns is that after the event they are pretty much useless (#firstworldproblems, I know). The occasion to wear dresses this formal are rare, but they’re often very expensive, which is a huge waste. I’m hoping that as this is a two-piece, the top, at least, will get worn quite a lot as on it’s own it is still a beautiful cropped top.
I like to keep my style simple and hate spending hours pondering what to wear. Of course this means accessorising is my worst nightmare. I hate buying bracelets because I know they’ll be fiddly to put on and will rarely be worn. So, for the past few months, I have been on the hunt for a decent cuff bracelet that will just slide on. To no avail. I’ve found it surprisingly difficult to find a cuff that is simple, easy to put on and the right size. I have fairly small wrists so almost all cuffs and bangles end up dangling half way down my hand/arm when I move around, which is frustrating and means you can hear me jangling away from a mile off.
Then, just at the right moment, I was generously gifted some items from Daniel Wellington. I’d been eyeing up their new rose gold watch range for months and I was ecstatic to finally get my hands on it! This watch is so beautiful that I’d much rather wear it than a bracelet because it’s both eye-catching and useful. I’ve paired this rose gold watch with the new Daniel Wellington rose gold cuff in size S. This cuff is exactly (and I’m really not just saying this) what I was looking for. Simple design and a tight fit. The words DANIEL WELLINGTON are subtly engraved onto the cuff and the way that it is cut diagonally means that it catches the light in different places.
I’ve worn this rose gold watch/cuff combo pretty much every day since I received them and I’ve received so many compliments on them. They magically make me look like I’ve put a bit of effort into how I look that day when really I just slap these two on every morning and voila!
The new Classic Petite range also includes the original Daniel Wellington straps, but they are slightly thinner. Here I opted for the “Reading” strap, which is a patterned black leather strap. I originally intended to give this one to my mum but after it arrived I fell in love with it so it’s still mine (sorry, Mum).
The Classic Petite watches are much daintier than the original DW Classic watches and so they feel much more feminine to me. As I said, I have fairly small wrists so I think this range actually suits me much better.
All in all, I’m completely in love with Daniel Wellington’s new Classic Petite range. I hope I have proved that you really can wear them on any occasion from a coffee date to a white tie ball! The cuff and watch combo works so well together and makes you look effortlessly chic.
