Oxford In Bloom: Bookish Wisteria Hysteria

Oxford In Bloom: Bookish Wisteria Hysteria

Sorry for going awol on the blog recently but my finals are starting in just ONE WEEK (gah) and I’m feeling the pressure. I haven’t been doing a lot of “fun” reading lately but I thought I’d share some of my favourite bookish (and non-bookish!) photos from around various different Oxford colleges this spring. I’ve never properly explored the other colleges, despite them all being so close, but I’ve discovered that they’re all so beautiful and unique in their own ways. Most of them have been blessed with huge wisteria growths over the past few weeks (but not mine, boo!) and you guys have been fawning over these pics on Instagram so here’s my bookish wisteria hysteria round up:

Unfortunately I’ve already forgotten where half these photos specifically came from but I know that I visited the colleges: Christ Church, Corpus Christi, Pembroke, Exeter and Oriel! I go to Christ Church and I love my college a lot but it’s very grand and doesn’t have the cute and flowery quads that many of its neighbouring colleges do. Spring time is officially my favourite season in Oxford as the blooms and pastel colours were all so so beautiful this year!

Walking around just a few of Oxford’s 38 colleges has just reiterated for me how important it is to choose the right college for you as there is such a different vibe at each and everyone. Christ Church is the ‘Harry Potter’ college and so there’s a constant stream of tourists coming through, which few of the other colleges have, despite being equally beautiful! Check out my post on 8 Do’s and Don’ts for Choosing an Oxford College for more information if you’re thinking about applying to Oxford University.

I love Oxford largely, I have to admit because of the Inspector Morse connection but it’s a beautiful city to wander around.
