Last Minute Christmas Gift Guide For Bookish People

Christmas is TOMORROW and I’ll bet that a lot of you still haven’t bought all of your Christmas gifts. If you’re buying for someone that loves books this year, why not get them something other than, well, a book. Here are some slightly more interesting bookish ideas so you don’t just have to pick up whatever is being advertised as Waterstones ‘best seller’ this week.

1. Funko Pops

Perfect for film, television and book lovers, funko pops have taken the world by storm over the past year. There’s a POP! doll for pretty much every series out there so you’re sure to find something for your bookish friend. From Harry Potter to the Minions to Game of Thrones to Disney Princesses, there’s something for everyone.

Both adults and children seem to love these and some people have amassed huge collections of these tiny dolls. They cost around £8-£15 each so they’re not exactly cheap, especially given their size, but you can’t deny that they’re cute!

2. Harry Potter Illustrated Edition

I don’t know anyone bookish who didn’t grow up loving Harry Potter. The new illustrated edition of the Philosopher’s Stone has recently been released and there’s no better way to relive the magic than by getting your hands on these fantastic new edition. They’re going to be releasing the illustrated versions of the remaining books over the next few years so this could be the start of a new Christmas tradition…

3. Adult Colouring Books

Adult Colouring Books have suddenly become really popular this year. I featured them on my Christmas Gift Guide for Instagram Lover too so if you hadn’t noticed – I desperately want one. There are a huge variety of books to choose from now but the two I want the most have to be the official Harry Potter colouring book and The Enchanted Forest by Johanna Basford. There are loads of beautiful Harry Potter scenes and characters to colour in this book and I genuinely think the illustrations in here are a lot better than those in a lot of other colouring books, regardless of whether you’re a Harry Potter fan or not.

4. Bookish mugs

Most bookworms love to settle down with a large pot of tea before they dig into their next read. I must be the exception to the rule as I hate both tea and coffee but I do love mugs! Check out the awesome Bookworm Boutique on Society6 for some bookish mugs such as the one below. She has a lot of cool slogans to do with reading, bookworms, fangirling etc. Her designs can be found on mugs, phone cases, cushions and more, so it’s definitely worth checking out!

5. Bookish Subscription Box

Subscription boxes are all the rage at the moment, but did you know you can also buy them as gifts? A lot of subscription box services offer a gift option whereby you can buy someone 1, 3 or 6 months worth of boxes. There are several bookish boxes out there such as Owl Crate and The Bookish Box, but I’d have to recommend Illumicrate.

This is a quarterly subscription box that contains 3-5 items, usually a recent release and some other bookish products. In my first box I received Wolf by Wolf, as well as a bookish hand held mirror, a Harry Potter poster, a Mockingjay necklace and a watercolour bookmark. The best thing about these is that they’re already wrapped up really nicely, so it’s like buying a pre-packaged present!

6. Christmas Books

Looking for something to get you in the festive mood? There are loads of Christmassy books out there but two of my favourites have to be Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson and some other YA authors, and Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn. Both of these are Young Adult romances but they’re so awfully cute and remind you what a great time Christmas is to be in love. A must for teenage book lovers.

7. A Book Journal

There are loads of book journals out there, but one that really caught my eye was the Busy B Fabric Book Journal. Not only does this book have pages for you to make notes about the books you’ve recently read, but it also includes sticky notes for your books, a place where you can list what you’ve read, what you want to read etc. and also notes on your book club meetings. This one is far more interesting than some of the others on the market and it’s got the best design by far! If you’re looking for something a little more upmarket, the Moleskin also have a great Book Journal.

No longer available from Busy B.

8. Library Card Tote Bag

Book lovers are all in need of tote bags. How else are you going to lug around all those new book purchases? And what could be better than a bookish tote. This library card tote bag is quirky and sure to please your book loving friends.

Available from The Literary Gift Company

9. Bookends

Bookends are something that every book lover needs but is something that they probably won’t think about until it’s too late and you’ve got books tumbling all over the place. There are lots of gorgeous book ends out there but these bicycle bookends really caught my eye. These are just a little bit different and work really well with vintage-looking books. Alternatively, there are also owl and letter bookends, just to name a few.

Available from Not On The Highstreet for £32.90.

10. Personal Library Kit

I see this every time I walk into a British book store and every time I see it I desperately want to buy it! What gift could be more appropriate for a book lover than a personal library kit? The only reason I haven;t bought this is because I’m so OCD about the condition of my books that I rarely lend my books out to friends

Available from Waterstones for £11.95, click below!

And that’s it for my Christmas Gift Guides this year! I can’t believe Christmas is already upon us – it really snuck up on me this year! To be honest, I don’t feel all that Christmassy this year, despite being home after a few months abroad, but hopefully on the 25th I’ll get into it with a proper Christmas meal and some Christmas television. What’s everyone else up to this Christmas?
