Travel broadens the horizons and treats you to experiences you’ll never forget. The bucket list craze may have a slightly morbid connotation. But it’s got most of us thinking. Life’s short, so what’s the point in waiting around? Is it time you made a travel bucket list? If wanderlust is your middle name, here are some destinations to consider.
The Big Apple is a high flier in the bucket list stakes, and it’s no wonder. There are so many highlights, it’s hard to know where to begin. Take in the bright lights of Times Square or go skating in Central Park. Marvel at the views from the Empire State Building and catch the ferry over to see the Statue of Liberty. Book Broadway tickets or watch the Knicks in action. Shop until you drop and visit the famous museums and galleries.
If you haven’t already been to the city of love, it’s a must for your bucket list. No amount of photos and postcards can prepare you for the real-life beauty of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. Take a trip down the Champs-Elysees and visit the Louvre. Stroll down the banks of the River Seine and visit the iconic Moulin Rouge. Enjoy the views from Sacre Coeur and embrace the cafe culture. If you’re a fan of action and adventure or stunning scenery, New Zealand is an excellent option. Here, you can do everything from bungee jumping to caving. You’ll find crystal-clear lakes, mountains, and glaciers. You can also enjoy city slicking in hip Auckland or laid back Christchurch. If you’re lucky, you may be able to catch the mighty All Blacks in action.
South Africa is a beautiful country, which offers every kind of holiday you could imagine. Book a few days on safari to enjoy incredible wildlife encounters. Take time to enjoy the wonders of Cape Town. Drive the Garden Route. Learn to surf or go whale watching. Visit historic Robben Island and enjoy the views from Table Mountain.
Australia is home to so many famous sights and natural wonders. Ayers Rock, the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney Harbour are just a few highlights you may want to include in your itinerary. Scuba dive, climb mountains or drive a 4×4.
Many people dream of seeing the Northern Lights, and Iceland is a fantastic place to do this. It’s also well worth visiting the Blue Lagoon and Thingvellir National Park. If you’re an adventurous type, there are all kinds of activities on offer. Go snowmobiling or ice climbing on the glacier. Kayak among the floating icebergs or brave the river rapids. After a busy day, head into the centre of Reykjavik for a well-earned drink and some local delicacies. You’ll find a lively pub scene at the weekends.
Travelling is all about seeing new places and making memories. You never know what’s around the corner, so don’t put off making your dreams come true. Draw up that dream list now, and start planning your next adventure.
