Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and I’m willing to bet that there are loads of you out there who haven’t planned ahead and are currently panicking about what to do. Whilst Valentine’s Day is a time that people often choose to splash out at a fancy restaurant, for those of you that have difficulty finding time to yourselves, why not do something more intimate?VIEW STORY »
With only four months left to go in Paris, I’m determined to make the most of it by experiencing as many typically (or atypically) ‘Parisian’ things as possible. That’s why when Abby from BonAppetour invited me along to a Cafe de La Culture event, I jumped at opportunity. I was promised an evening with Voltaire, Diderot and Rousseau (three famous French philosophers), which is what I got and more.VIEW STORY »
I can’t believe it’s already 2016, but here I am, back in Paris after a much needed 2 week break at home in London. In 2015 I finished my second year of university and then pretty swiftly packed up and moved to Paris. There, I completed a five and a half month internship at a social media company, which is the longest I’ve ever worked full time and learnt a lot. I’m still not sure if the world of social media is for me, but it’s certainly an interesting area to work in and be a part of at the moment so overall I’m still pretty happy with the outcome of my first six months in Paris. My French has improved considerably but not quite as much as I would have liked but hopefully the next 5 months will sort that out (fingers crossed). I made a grand total of two French friends though I’m still not sure whether I should be proud or ashamed of that figure. My second internship starts tomorrow (eek!), and I’m hoping it’ll be more stimulating than the last. This time I’ll be an assistant social media consultant so I should have more responsibility than at the last and as the company is a lot bigger, the projects may have greater reach. I’m both really excited and really nervous about this new job as I have absolutely no idea what to expect – I just hope my French holds up! Wish me luck…VIEW STORY »

For some reason, I haven’t felt particularly excited about Christmas this year and I just haven’t been able to get into the Christmas spirit. Despite listening to Christmas songs and watching Love Actually, I just wasn’t in the mood.
I had just assumed I wasn’t getting a Christmas present this year because my parents bought me a Canon 100D in the summer for blogging as a very early ‘Christmas present’ but a few days ago my mum asked me where my Christmas list was and my hope was renewed…
In the end I got a pretty good Christmas haul, almost entirely made up of items that I had actually wanted beforehand, which has never happened to me before! Now I’ve never done a haul on my blog before so I don’t really know what how to proceed but here’s what I got…VIEW STORY »
Christmas is TOMORROW and I’ll bet that a lot of you still haven’t bought all of your Christmas gifts. If you’re buying for someone that loves books this year, why not get them something other than, well, a book. Here are some slightly more interesting bookish ideas so you don’t just have to pick up whatever is being advertised as Waterstones ‘best seller’ this week.
1. Funko Pops
Perfect for film, television and book lovers, funko pops have taken the world by storm over the past year. There’s a POP! doll for pretty much every series out there so you’re sure to find something for your bookish friend. From Harry Potter to the Minions to Game of Thrones to Disney Princesses, there’s something for everyone. Both adults and children seem to love these and some people have amassed huge collections of these tiny dolls. They cost around £8-£15 each so they’re not exactly cheap, especially given their size, but you can’t deny that they’re cute!
Less than one week to go! Christmas is fast approaching and I’m sure there are lots of you out there who still have not done your Christmas shopping. I am notoriously bad at Christmas shopping, I always leave it to the last minute and end up having to grab what’s available instead of what I wanted to buy – but not this year!

I have been at a loss as to what to post on my blog ever since the horrifying events that took place in Paris last Friday night. Writing a review of the latest Bond film or anything else suddenly seems insignificant but I know I’ll get back on track soon.
In more positive news, What’s Hot? has just been nominated as a finalist in the Blogger’s Lounge awards! This means that me and my blog are in the top 5 lifestyle bloggers of 2015, which is such a pleasant surprise. It’s such an honour to have been nominated in the ‘lifestyle’ category as I’ve only really started writing lifestyle posts over the past few months. For my new followers, What’s Hot? started out as a fashion and beauty blog, before quickly turning into a film blog and then I added book reviews in. The majority of posts on here are probably still about books but it’s refreshing to write about something new and the freedom of being a ‘lifestyle’ blogger has rekindled my love of blogging. What’s Hot? is coming up to its fifth birthday, can you believe it, and I hope it continues to thrive for many more years to come.
If you’d like to vote for me, then please go to their site and you’ll fine the ‘LIFESTYLE BLOGGER OF THE YEAR’ box. I’m listed as ‘WHATS HOT’ (thanks for omitting the punctuation Bloggers’ Lounge..). Every single blogger in this category, and the others, is fantastic so check them all out if you’ve got time.
Fellow UK Blogger Anna from Don’t Cramp My Style has been voted for DESIGN BLOGGER OF THE YEAR, so give her fantastic blog a vote too 🙂
Let me know if you vote for What’s Hot? in the comments below!
What good things have happened to you recently? 🙂

It’s less than a week until Valentine’s day and I’m willing to be that over 50% of people won’t have bought their someone special anything at all. Most people are probably planning on making a last minute dash to Tesco to buy some flowers, a box of chocolates, or maybe even some saucy underwear, but why not do something different this year? Give a promise. I Promise is a nifty little idea that involves you giving a little envelope full of ‘promise’ cards to your special someone.
