Do you find fashion confusing? Here you’ll find a bunch of fashion tips that anybody can use. Take a look and see if they can help you!
Find a Fashion Muse
By finding a fashion muse, in other words, somebody whose style you admire, you can take inspiration from them when shopping and putting your outfits together. Having more than one should help you to come up with more original and unique outfit combinations. You don’t want to look exactly the same as somebody else!
Make a Pinterest Board
I love making Pinterest boards for things; they help me to stay focused. I add outfit pictures that I love to a board, and that can help me when styling myself or shopping too. I look at the things that are similar between all of the outfits, make a note, and then look for things that match that. You should notice patterns in the outfits you most commonly pick, and this should help you to define what you like. Check out my Pinterest board here if you want some inspiration.
Define Your Style
Define your style using up to 5 words and then look for things that match that description. Not sure what your style is? Use words to describe your personality and go for clothes that match that. Are you fun, eccentric, and bright? Pick clothes that match that. Are you quite reserved and classic? Those kinds of clothes will suit you. Let your clothes speak before you do.
Know What You Like/Don’t Like
Know what you like and don’t like. Assess why certain outfits worked and why certain outfits didn’t work and learn from your mistakes and successes. You’ll put better outfits together each and every time you style yourself. Remember that lots of cheap online clothes boutiques now offer free UK returns so you can buy lots to try on in the comfort of your own home then return the ones that aren’t suitable! Some sites that offer free returns include: ASOS, Boohoo, PrettyLittleThing and more.
Know What Suits You
There’s a difference between what you like and what suits you. Knowing what suits you will help you to pick clothes that really flatter you. The colour and shape can make a big difference to the way you look!
Only Buy Clothes You Love
Don’t buy clothes you’re indifferent about or clothes you don’t feel sure about. Only buy clothes you love. Keeping clothes for the sake of it will take up unnecessary space in your wardrobe, not to mention drain your bank account! If you feel great in a flatcap, buy a flatcap. Don’t worry about other people!
Make Sure Your Clothes Fit
Make sure your clothes fit you. Unless you’re going for an oversized look on purpose that is. Balance out your outfits so they look just right; you shouldn’t wear baggy clothes all over. You shouldn’t wear tight clothes all over either. You’d look better wearing a tight top and boyfriend jeans, or an oversized jumper and leggings, for instance.
Don’t Get Too Caught up in ‘Fashion’
Fashion trends come and go, so don’t get too caught up in it. Instead, focus on the things you love and things that suit you. Only follow a trend if you really like it.
Of course the most important thing is to have fun styling yourself! If you don’t feel fashion savvy, why don’t you try some of these tips and when you feel confident, try more complicated tips to create layered outfits.
