NB. There shouldn’t be any major spoilers in this article
Made in Chelsea is back and this time the gang are headed to LA. There’s already been one MIC spin off, which was shot in NY and it appears that these Chelsea socialiates are real globetrotters. From East coast to West coast, the cast of MIC are set to spend their sunny summer in Los Angeles and no doubt there’ll be more romance and, of course, more drama.
Unsurprisingly this series starts off with one Jamie Laing getting far too excited about everything and some panoramic shots of LA. What is perhaps even more predictable is that Jamie immediately finds himself entangled with the ladies, but can he handle LA girls? If the first episode is anything to go by, then the answer would seem to be no…
Mark Francis seems to have become even more posh, would you believe it, on his way to LA and is still trying to instil a sense of decorum into Georgina – Toff to most. All of the characters’ individual traits have become more and more pronounced as the series has gone on, but none more so than Mark Francis who just seems incredibly fake. I think Mark Francis is set to have a slightly larger role than usual in this series as it appears there is a female Mark Francis in LA. I repeat, there is a female Mark Francis in LA. Who would’ve thought it possible? One particularly memorable Marky moment this episode was this –
On the subject of how many trousers he’s brought to LA:
“60? Is that all? Oh well that’s just for the evening”
As per usual there are lots of fake ‘run-ins’, where characters just happen to stumble upon each other. The first example of this is when Jamie and JP are out for a run and they happen to come across two incredibly hot LA girls, who just happen to be having a pool party that day.
That will be really good, we can get a good tan – Louise Thompson
Thoughtful as ever, Louise.
Of course the cast are just as glamorous as ever, sporting the most fashionable bikinis and handbags – Lucy Watson can be spotted in a TRAINGL bikini (I want one so badly!) and there’ll no doubt be some blatant product placement on the show/on the Instagram accounts of the cast over the next few weeks.
There was no sign of Spencer and Lauren in this episode but I assume they’ll be joining the cast later on. Spencer is one of the few original cast members of MIC and as much as I hate to admit it, he is an integral part of the show. Now that he’s starting to settle down though, does he have much of a future on MIC?
The end of the last episode saw what could have been the start of a relationship between several characters, Binky and JP, Jamie and Jess… Of course none of these couples have committed between this season and the last, but will sparks explode in LA?
What really surprised me was that there was no beach in the first episode. I mean sure, there was a pool party but I expected this series to be MIC on the beach, but perhaps that’s not the vibe they’re going for – only time will tell. Surprisingly nothing too shocking happened in the first episode. In fact, pretty much nothing of note happened but I guess they’re just setting the scene. That said, the 15 second promo at the end of Episode 1 looks FANTASTIC. Can anyone smell drama? Looks like this series of Made in Chelsea is going to be even more dramatic than the last time the crew crossed the Ocean for the USA and I for one can’t wait for things to really kick off!
I hope LA is ready for you guys! – Steph Pratt
